Add edit and synchronize of meta data

This describe what to do with phTagr after installing and setup phTagr successfully. This page is also good for newcomers, demo users and others who want to know more about the great media gallery phTagr! Login and enjoy!

Files

So, you have an account of a new gallery. What to do? Of cause get some pictures or videos on the screen. phTagr can read from local file system or you can upload data through the web browser or WebDav.

Local Files

To read local files you account must be able to read from it. See ReadLocalFiles

Upload Files

To upload you can do it via the web page at My Files and than Upload.

http://demo.phtagr.org/media/preview/124

Or you can upload (and manage) your files with the more advanced feature of using WebDav.

Import Files

After getting some files to phTagr you must import the files - kind of activate the files.

  • Goto My Files and browse to the specific location you want to import the media
  • Select the folder or single files to import and click Import. A summarize shows if your import was successful. http://demo.phtagr.org/media/preview/123
  • Now go to My Images and see your new imported images.

Change Meta Data

Images without some tags and categories are boring! Organize quick and easy your media by giving them some meta data

  • By edit a single image click on http://demo.phtagr.org/img/icons/tag_blue_edit.png. Tags are separated by comma. Eg. 'red flower' is treated as single tag, whereas 'red, flower' is handled as tag 'red' and tag 'flower'.
  • To edit multiple images select image by image and add tags or categories at the bottom
    • To delete a tag or category add a minus sign in front of the tag. Eg. '-flower' means that you delete the tag 'flower'.
    • To rename a wrong tag type '-flowr, flower' to the form.

Note: Tags are case sensitive. Once you typed a tag with in a specific case this style counts. If you first type 'floWer' the case remains even if you type 'Flower' later.

Synchronize Your Files

phTagr does not synchronize the meta data immediately (otherwise each meta data change will cause a delay). You have to start the synchronization manually. For single image select http://photos.phtagr.org/img/icons/database_refresh.png to synchronize the meta data.

To synchronize all files goto My Files and than click on Synchronize.
