This describe what to do with phTagr after installing and setup phTagr successfully. This page is also good for newcomers, demo users and others who want to know more about the great media gallery phTagr! Login to your phTagr account and enjoy!

The Explorer is the central photo repository. Here you can view and filter your photo selection by tags, categories, and other meta data. Usually you filter your photos to your current interests like the last vacation of previous spring. So you might filter by category 'vacation' and a specific time range.

The Explorer has its own menu:

Filter settings for current media view.
Assign or change meta data on multiple photos
Access Rights
Change access rights of your media. See AccessControl for details
Actions to current media selection
Instant slide show for your current selection

On the right side you can paginate through your media set

Media Filter

You can shrink you current media set by applying filters. You can use the View Filter which lists all current meta data of your current page. Here you can include or exclude tags, categories, or locations. Or you can change the order or page size of your media set.

Alternatively you can use the filter input form where you can type your specific filter.

See SearchParameter for filter parameter.

Media Selection

In the media selection menu you can select some action which are operate on the current media selection.

Select all will select all media in the current view. Invert selection invert current media selection in the current view
Remove removes selected media from phtagr (opposite of importing media). Clear Cache remove cached media like preview sizes of media of current media selection. Sync synchronizes meta data and writes meta data to files of current media selection.
Download current media selection as ZIP file in selected quality.

Upload Files

So, you have an account of a new gallery. What to do? Of course get some pictures or videos on the screen. phTagr can read from

  • Local file system or
  • Upload files using the web browser or
  • WebDav as online storrage/network drive

To read local files your account must be prepared. See ReadLocalFiles for details.

For using the more advance feature of WebDav please read its own section WebDav.

Upload You Media

Goto Upload and select your files to be uploaded. A ZIP archive is extracted automatically.
After your upload was successfully you will see small thumbnails of your uploaded media.

If you like to upload more files repeat these steps. If you cant upload (any more) please check your UserQuota and UploadLimits. See also AdvancedFileBrowser.

Change Meta Data

Images without some tags and categories are boring! Organize quick and easy your media by giving them some MetaData!

  • Goto My Photos
  • By edit a single image click on Tags are separated by comma. Eg. 'red flower' is treated as single tag, whereas 'red, flower' is handled as tag 'red' and tag 'flower'
  • To edit multiple images select each image via plus icon and add tags or categories from Edit Meta at Explorer's top menu.
    • To delete a tag or category add a minus sign in front of the tag. Eg. '-flower' means that you delete the tag 'flower'.
    • To rename a wrong tag type '-flowr, flower' to the form.

Note: Tags are case sensitive. Once you typed a tag with in a specific case this style counts. If you first type 'floWer' the case remains even if you type 'Flower' later.

If you think that was easy continue with AccessControl or AdvancedFileBrowser
