This page describes how to manage your files with the advanced file browser.

In the advanced file browser you can upload files, too. However, the files are not automatically imported to the gallery and you have to import/activate them manually. This gives you more control where to upload your media and which to import to the gallery. You can create folders and upload the media to these folders.

The quick uploader (Menu Upload in frontend) uploads the files to subfolders in YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD/ folders, where YYYY is the year, MM is the month and DD is the day, e.g. 2010/2010-07-14/.

To upload via the advanced file browser you go to Dashboard -> Media Files -> Upload

If you want to upload several pictures at once, you can zip these to an archive and upload the archive. By selecting Extract ZIP archive all the content will be extracted at your current folder and the zip file will be deleted. De selecting Extract ZIP archive the zip archive is only uploaded, but not extracted.

If you cant upload (any more) please check your UserQuota.

phTagr converts your videos into flash videos automatically! If you want to create and upload flash videos please see CreateFlashVideo.

Create Folder

To get some order of your files, you can create also folders on your account. At the bottom select create folder which ask you for the folder name.

Import Files

After upload some files you have to import the files - kind of activation for the gallery.

  • Goto Dashboard -> Media Files and browse to the specific location you want to import the media
  • Select the folder or single files to import and click Import. A summarize shows if your import was successful.
  • Now go to back and see your new imported images.

Synchronize Your Files

phTagr does not synchronize the MetaData immediately (otherwise each MetaData change will delay the page response). But dont panic! phTagr synchronize the media before a download of the original file. So you never loose your MetaData :-)

If you want to synchronize all media at one you have to start the synchronization manually. To synchronize all files goto Dashboard -> Media Files -> Meta Data Sync and than click on Write Meta Data. And to synchronize a single image select to synchronize the meta data.
