Simplify upload, import, and tag process

Reported by: sebastian Owned by:
Priority: major Milestone: 2.4
Component: file browser Version:
Keywords: folder, upload, import, tag Cc:

The current steps for uploading folders is to complicated for a normal (non-geek) gallery user. The usually steps might be

  1. Create folder for the new uploads
  2. Upload files to the new folder
  3. Import all photos
  4. Tag photos with some common tags, categories, etc

These steps could be bundeled together to one simplified action to make the gallery more user friendly. Following tickets cover this simplified upload, import, and tag processes:

  • #71 (Automatic folder for upload)
  • #62 (Multiple inputs for HTML upload)
  • #14 (Automatic media import on upload)
  • #63 (Add tags and other MetaData on upload/import)

Futher the normal (non-geek) gallery user might not want to know where and how the files are stored in the gallery. Therefore, the file storage and the file browser could be hidden from the normal user by default.

If an advance user want to have more control of his files and wants to rename, or move his files he could enable an advance option and could have access to the current version.
