Improve Explorer filters

Reported by: stevko Owned by: sebastian
Priority: minor Milestone: 2.4
Component: explorer Version:
Keywords: filter Cc:

Description

View filter menu in explorer should be a little more flexible. It should be possible to select not only tags or categories (or locations etc.) that are in currently displayed photos - one way of achieving this would be having “more…” at the end of tags/categories/etc that would display (modal) window with list of (possibly) all existing tags/etc.
Also I think there should be special None tag/category for pictures without tag/category (e.g. those that were uploaded but not yet tagged).
And at last: Pagesize should not be limited to 240 (put „All” as one option).

Hi stevko,

thank you for playing around with phtagr and reporting your new improvement request.

As I understand, you suggest two ideas:

  • A 'more...' link in the view filter to select other tags/categories/etc
  • A special filter value e.g 'none' to filter photos without such values.

I like both variants for enhancing the filter. Great ideas!

Regarding the page size of 240 I've set this limit because for more complex filter it takes a while to complete the database query which leads to a bad user experience. Further, the current explorer view is not optimized for displaying many photos at once.

As always: If you have some coding skills I'm happy to give hints and support to get your wishes done by your hands. Let me know.

Special search terms tag:none, category:none, sublocation:none, city:none, state:none, country:none, geo:none are now supported. Also geo:any works now.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
