Using EXIF DateTimeOriginal for the date

Hey

Would it be possible to have the EXIF DateTimeOriginal? for the date of the picture in sted of the date of when the pic is uploaded to phTager?

Usually phTagr uses DateTimeOriginal if is can read it via exiftool or getid3. If phTagr can not read it, the fall back is the current time.

Can you describe your settings phtagr:

  • Which version of phtagr are you running?
  • Do you have exiftool configured?
  • Which photos with DateTimeOriginal are not read correctly? Maybe attach some resized small images where your phtagr installtion does not import the time information correctly

It does work!

It's seems it's a lot of the pictures I'm working with that doesn't have the DateTimeOriginal?. I naively thought that every file would have a date in the metadata, at least the date it was created. Looking closer, using exiftool, I see that this is not the case.

The only date they have are the system FileModifyDate?. Would it be possible to fall back on this in stead of the uploaddate?
